The weekend’s wild weather is expected to continue into Monday, with emergency services issuing a coastal hazard alert to West Australians warning of damaging conditions.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued the alert at 5.12am on Monday, advising that strong south-westerly winds and powerful waves would continue to hit the coast between Jurien Bay and Bunbury.
Conditions have been described as “powerful” with residents warned to take preventative measures due to potential coastal erosion and infrastructure damage.
“Beach conditions in these areas could be dangerous and people should stay well away from the surf and surf exposed areas,” the warning said.
The hazard warning comes after WA residents experienced a weekend of severe storms, with wind gusts reaching speeds of more than 100km/h.
