BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A man is dead after a motorcycle crash in Battle Creek on Friday afternoon.

According to the Battle Creek Police Department (BCPD), around 3:15 p.m., officers responded to a crash on East Columbia Avenue at the M-66 overpass.

LifeCare Ambulance and the Battle Creek Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Police said a 52-year-old man riding a motorcycle was headed eastbound on Columbia Avenue when he crashed into the back of the vehicle in front of him.

A second crash happened shortly afterward.

BCPD said the motorcyclist died at the scene from his injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.

"The City of Battle Creek extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the man who lost his life," BCPD said in a release.
