GRAND FORKS — Valley Senior Living community members celebrated National Assisted Living Week with a slate of events this week, culminating in a cornhole tournament and root beer floats on Friday.

Other events throughout the week — themed "Ageless Adventure" — included a car show, bingo, a western-themed barbecue picnic, s'mores by the campfire, a silly photo booth and live music. National Assisted Living Week was recognized this year Sept. 7 through 13.

Sally Grosgebauer, spokesperson for Valley Senior Living, said the week of festivities is an important part of building community for their assisted living residents, who often invite family members to partake in the celebration.
