LUDLOW, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Around 5 p.m. on Friday evening, an autistic man on Orchard Street in Ludlow had wandered from his home. His family quickly noticed and reported that he was missing to the police.

A be-on-the-lookout, or BOLO order, was issued to both the Ludlow and Chicopee Police Departments. Both police departments immediately began their search, while the Hampden County Sheriff’s Office began sending out their Electronic Search and Rescue teams to assist.

Just before 8 p.m. the same night, two Sheriff’s deputies located the missing man using the technology given to them by Project Lifesaver by getting a location from the man’s wristband. He was found on East Main Street in Chicopee, approximately 5 miles from the subject’s home.
