With just one week until the regular season begins, the Victoria Royals have added another piece up front, acquiring forward Ashton Brown from the Regina Pats.

In exchange, the Royals sent a seventh-round selection in the 2029 WHL Draft the other way. That pick originally belonged to the Brandon Wheat Kings before Victoria picked it up in a July deal that also brought goaltender Ethan Eskit to Victoria.

Brown, an 18-year-old from Sherwood Park, Alta., has logged 108 games in the WHL over the past two seasons with the Wenatchee Wild and Regina, collecting seven goals and 12 assists.

Before that, he was a standout in the Alberta Elite Hockey League with the Sherwood Park Flyers, where he led his U15 team in 2021-22 with 49 points in 34 games, 16 more than any other player on the roster.
