Pastels on 5th, the annual fall tradition in downtown Loveland that recognizes local artists and raises money for Alternatives To Violence, a local nonprofit, returned this weekend.
Each year, artists are assigned a square of concrete along Fifth Street where they can create chalk art of whatever they choose.
Founded in 2011 as a fundraiser for ATV, which provides services for people seeking to escape abusive situations, the event gathered artists, musicians, vendors and spectators to an all-day festival Saturday.
At the end of the afternoon, the jury selects winners that qualify for cash prizes. Voting for a People’s Choice Award closes at 5 p.m. Sunday; residents can cast votes for $1 each online at pastelson5th.org/vote/ .
