Giving up an early goal was tough enough. After the lead doubled, Angel City FC had its back up against the wall.

Angel City watched North Carolina score in the sixth and 19 minutes Saturday, proving too much to conquer as it fell 2-1 in Cary, N.C.

It was the first victory for the Courage (6-7-7, 25 points) since June 21, after which they went 0-2-4.

Angel City (6-9-5, 23 points), which had a five-match unbeaten streak snapped last Sunday in a 3-1 loss at Gotham FC , has now lost two in a row.

Saturday’s defeat came after Sveindís Jane Jónsdóttir, the Icelandic forward signed by Angel City in May, scored her first NWSL goal, set up by Miyabi Moriya, in the 88th minute to cut the Courage’s lead in half.
