South Alabama never really looked like a serious threat to spring an upset over Auburn on Saturday, but the Tigers never were in total control until the final minutes of the game either.
The Jaguars lost 31-15 at Jordan-Hare Stadium, done in by two ill-timed offensive turnovers and some subpar situational defense. A three-touchdown underdog, South Alabama (1-2) trailed 28-9 at halftime, but held No. 24 Auburn (3-0) to just three points in the second half.
