Texas football player, Arch Manning, stands on the field during warm up before a game against UTEP at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas, on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025.

Texas quarterback Arch Manning didn't play as well as hoped during the first half of his team's game against UTEP on Saturday at home.

Despite leading 7-3 late in the second quarter, an errant pass by Manning drew the boo birds at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium. As aggressive as that sounds when the home team has the lead, Longhorns fans weren't happy with Manning's incompletions. He went five-for-16 in the first half for 69 yards and a pick.

Even so, Texas went up 14-3 over UTEP at the break, so it wasn't at all a losing effort by the Longhorns at large.

With Manning just in his third game as Texas' starter, bumps had to be expected. The boos for his on-field struggles had to be a continued symptom of the egregious overhype Manning entered the season with from the outside.
