Several college football games are set for Saturday, September 13, 2025, featuring teams looking to improve their records. Among the highlights are Eastern Michigan vs. Kentucky, Old Dominion vs. Virginia Tech, and Jacksonville State vs. Georgia Southern.
Eastern Michigan will face Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN U. Kentucky enters the game with a 1-1 record. The Wildcats won their season opener against Toledo, 24-16, but lost to No. 17 Ole Miss, 30-23. In the victory over Toledo, running back Dante Dowdell had a standout performance with 14 carries for 129 yards and one touchdown. However, quarterback Zach Calzada struggled, completing only 10 of 23 passes for 85 yards and one interception against Toledo. His performance did not improve against Ole Miss, where he went 15-for-30 for 149 yards. Running back Seth McGowan contributed with 15 carries for 93 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. Eastern Michigan, on the other hand, is looking for its first win of the season after losses to Texas State and LIU, with scores of 52-27 and 32-28, respectively.
Old Dominion will take on Virginia Tech at 7:00 p.m. ET at Worsham Field at Lane Stadium, airing on the ACC Network. Virginia Tech is still seeking its first win of the season, currently at 0-2. The Hokies lost 44-20 to Vanderbilt last week after falling to No. 13 South Carolina in their season opener. Virginia Tech's defense has struggled, allowing 409 yards per game and being outscored 48-3 in the second half of their games. Historically, Virginia Tech leads the series against Old Dominion 4-2, including a 37-17 victory last season. Old Dominion, with a record of 1-1, lost to No. 20 Indiana in their opener but rebounded with a 54-6 win over North Carolina Central, where Trequan Jones rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns.
In another matchup, Jacksonville State will play Georgia Southern at 7:00 p.m. ET at Allen E. Paulson Stadium. Jacksonville State has a record of 1-1, averaging 356 total yards per game, with a strong rushing attack led by running back Cam Cook, who has rushed for 270 yards and two touchdowns. Georgia Southern, however, is struggling at 0-2, averaging only 309.5 yards per game and scoring about 17 points per game. Quarterback JC French has thrown for 337 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions, while running back OJ Arnold has contributed with around 86 rushing yards.
