South Australian meat is proving irresistible on the global stage, with exports hitting a record-breaking $1.64 billion over the past year. Despite fresh tariff barriers imposed by the United States, the industry has surged by $573 million, delivering a win for regional communities and jobs across the state.
The growth has been across the board, with South Australia’s top 15 export markets recording increases of between 28 and 107 per cent. The US led the charge, climbing by $273 million, while South Korea (+$60 million), Japan (+$34 million), China (+$17 million) and Malaysia (+$22 million) pushed the collective value of the state’s top five markets to $1.17 billion.
