GROVE CITY, PA. — Darnell Williams rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns to help lead No. 2 Mount Union past No. 15 Grove City 49-14 on Saturday, Sept. 13.
The Purple Raiders (2-0) scored 49 unanswered points after Grove City (1-1) grabbed a 7-0 lead. Mount Union led 28-7 at halftime.
Williams had a career-long 67-yard run on his way to his second career 100-yard game. He averaged 11.6 yards a carry.
Purple Raiders freshman quarterback Mikey Maloney had his second straight 300-yard passing game. He finished 21-of-31 for 305 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for a TD.
Nick Turner had a career-high nine catches for 144 yards, including a 29-yard TD grab. Jacob Cockrell caught eight passes for 114 yards, including a 49-yard TD.
