ELOY, AZ (AZFamily) — A semitruck filled with stolen copper was intercepted in Pinal County on Thursday.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety received a call about the semi-truck traveling from New Mexico through Arizona. It was stolen from Doña Ana County, a southern county that is home to Las Cruces.
Arizona DPS troopers found the truck traveling westbound on Interstate 10 just outside of Eloy, before they stopped it and arrested the driver.
Inside the trailer, troopers found large blocks of what appeared to be compressed copper piping. The authorities estimated the stolen copper was worth $187,000.
