LSU asked for a moment of reflection on Saturday in Tiger Stadium in honor of victims of the 9/11 attacks and a Wednesday school shooting in Colorado, as well as Charlie Kirk — the conservative activist who was assassinated earlier this week in Utah.

Kirk, 31, was the founder of a conservative youth organization named Turning Point USA. He was shot and killed on Wednesday while he addressed a large crowd at Utah Valley University for a stop on his “American Comeback Tour,” which was scheduled to visit Baton Rouge on Oct. 27.

The school shooting also occurred on Wednesday, when a gunman opened fire on Evergreen High School outside Denver, injuring two students. The suspect, a 16-year-old student at the school, later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
