The UConn football team fell in overtime for the second week in a row.
Leading by three with just over two minutes to go in the fourth quarter at Delaware Stadium on Saturday, UConn’s defense set itself back with costly penalties and Delaware drove to tie the game with a field goal as the clock expired. The Huskies settled for three on their first overtime possession and couldn’t stop quarterback Nick Minicucci as he ran for his third score of the game to win it, 44-41.
UConn, favored by more than a touchdown coming into the game, is now 1-2 with consecutive losses to regional rivals.
The win serves as Delaware’s first over an FBS program since it moved up from the FCS level this fall.
It had the makings of a shootout early.
