Traffic investigators asked the public for help Saturday finding the driver of an SUV who struck and killed a pedestrian in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles.

The crash occurred at 10:21 p.m. Friday on La Brea Avenue south of Venice Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The pedestrian was crossing La Brea eastbound and was struck by a dark or silver-colored Honda CRV, police said.

The driver continued northbound on La Brea without stopping to identify themselves or help the victim as required by law, police said.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took the victim to a hospital where the person was pronounced dead. The pedestrian’s name was not released pending notification of relatives.
