PHILADELPHIA — The Phillies hope that Edmundo Sosa, who was lifted from Friday’s game against Kansas City with groin soreness, can avoid the injured list.

Sosa reported feeling better to manager Rob Thomson on Saturday. But he was meeting with doctors pregame to determine a treatment plan.

Sosa was lifted for Weston Wilson in the seventh inning Friday. He had been hobbling in Thursday night’s win, and Thomson indicated the groin has been dogging him for a while.

“It’s definitely something he was playing through,” Thomson said. “But he went for a ball up the middle last night, and he came out of it and I thought, ‘that didn’t look right.’ When he got to the bench, he was honest with me, said Yeah, it’s hurting. So we got him out.”

Sosa is hitting .270 with seven homers and 33 RBIs in 85
