ATLANTA — Three weeks into the season, and Clemson is officially in danger of missing the College Football Playoff.
The No. 11 Tigers suffered their second upset loss in three weeks, losing 24-21 to Georgia Tech after Aidan Birr made a walk-off 55-yard field goal at Bobby Dodd Stadium Sept. 13. This loss marks the fifth straight season Clemson lost to an unranked opponent.
This loss comes after Clemson (1-2, 0-1 ACC) scored only 10 points against No. 4 LSU to open the season, then struggled against Troy , a Group of Five program, in Week 2. According to ESPN's playoff predictor, Clemson entered the season with a 38% chance to make the CFP, the highest in the ACC. Now, the Tigers have a 5.4% chance.
