JONESBORO, Ark. — It certainly wasn't the sharpest of performances by Iowa State football , but the Cyclones held on for a 24-16 road win over Arkansas State on Sept. 13.
The Cyclones head into the bye week with a 4-0 record. Iowa State had a 17-10 lead going into the half, and the resilient Red Wolves kept the game within reach throughout the day but couldn't overtake ISU.
Iowa State outgained the Red Wolves, 454-382. Rocco Becht completed 14-of-25 passes for 265 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also ran for a 10-yard touchdown.
Carson Hansen had a team-high 116 yards on 18 carries. Abu Sama had nine carries for 69 yards and a touchdown. Dominic Overby had a 27-yard touchdown reception, while Xavier Townsend finished with a team-high 92 receiving yards.
Defensively,
