A firefighter was sent to the hospital and seven people were displaced from their homes after an apartment Saturday morning in the Minnehaha area of Vancouver, the Vancouver Fire Department said.

Vancouver Fire responded to an apartment fire at 3412 NE 53rd St. in Vancouver at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Neighbors stated they heard several explosions prior to one of the units catching fire.

Units found heavy black smoke pouring from the front and rear doors of a second-story apartment.

Damage was limited to two apartments, displacing seven residents. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The Clark County Fire Marshals office is heading up the investigation into what caused the fire. Tags Hazel Dell & Minnehaha
