EAST LANSING – Michigan State closed nonconference play unbeaten but will carry fresh concerns into the Big Ten schedule.

The Spartans beat Youngstown State 41-24 on Saturday in a less-inspired performance against an FCS program than a double-overtime victory against Boston College last week.

There are also new injury concerns ahead of next week’s game at USC, including star receiver Nick Marsh and starting right guard Luka Vincic, who were both injured in the first half and didn’t return to play. The severity of those injuries remains unclear but Vincic was carted off during halftime and leading rusher Makhi Frazier came off the field hurt in the second half.
