JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 14-year-old is facing a murder charge after a fatal shooting on Jacksonville's Westside earlier this week, police say.

Just after 5 p.m. Wednesday, officers had responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex on LaBelle Street. After arriving, police say they found 18-year-old Marlon Lane with multiple gunshot wounds.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) said Lane was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Keyon Byrd turned himself in on Friday — the same day JSO says it received a warrant for his arrest.

The sheriff's office wrote in a statement:
