BESSEMER, Ala. ( WBRC ) - People living in Bessemer shared their frustrations over a large proposed data center during a meeting and listening session Saturday morning at Mannafested In Christ Ministries.
Some neighbors said city leaders are not being transparent about the project.
“Questions are being asked, but there’s no answers,” said Metro-Birmingham NAACP President Dorothea Crosby.
“At the last city council meeting, the city councilors said that some of the community members knew more about this project than they did and quite frankly, I think that’s a little bothersome to some of the community members,” said Alabama River’s Alliance Policy Director Charles Miller.
The $14.9 billion project would be one of the largest data centers in the South sitting on 675 acres off Rock Moun
