HONOLULU (Island News) -- Honolulu honored a day this week that will never be forgotten.
Thursday marked 24 years since the terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of 2,977 people in the U.S.
Local officials residents, first responders and others gathered outside Honolulu Hale for a commemoration Thursday evening.
Interim Police Chief Rade Vanic stated, "We honor the memory of the nearly three thousand innocent souls lost that day — the hundreds of brave first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice."
Sept.11th, 2001 terrorists hijacked four planes, crashing two into the Twin Towers in New York City, one into the Pentagon and the fourth into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers attempted to regain control.
Thursday marked a day to reflect on our country's resilience, unity and
