FORT DODGE, Iowa — In just the second meet of the season for the Sioux City Metros girls' high school swim team, senior Natalie Patee guaranteed herself a spot at the state meet.
Patee turned in a time of 53.93 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle race on Thursday during the Metros' meet in Fort Dodge at a triangular with the Dodgers and Algona.
The Metros won the meet with 73 team points. Algona was second at 58 and Fort Dodge finished third with 41 points.
In the 100 free, Patee beat teammate Rylee Rustwick, a freshman, who swam a 1:04.36 to take second. Patee also won the 100 breaststroke at 1:10.77.
Senior Erin Mahoney and freshman Aaliyah Laws went 1-2 in the 200 free as Mahoney finished with a time of 2:02.01 and Laws ended at 2:11.39. Mahoney also won the 100 butterf
