SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Two men are facing charges in connection with the 2022 murder of 17-year-old Devion Bates-Carrington in Savannah.

One suspect is headed to prison, and the other received probation during a sentencing hearing on Friday, September 12, 2025.

Both JT DeLoach and Johnathan Yusef Hameed Abdullah faced charges in Bates-Carrington’s case.

Friday, a judge sentenced JT DeLoach to life in prison with the possibility of parole for felony murder.

Due to a negotiated guilty plea, Abdullah received five years of probation for gun and drug possession charges for his role that day.

Abdullah’s murder charges were dropped before he entered a plea on any remaining charges.
