A bicyclist was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Madison on Saturday.

Following the crash, Madison police arrested a woman from New Haven for hitting the bicyclist, police said.

Police said that they were assisted by their license plate reader technology and the South Central Regional Traffic Crash Team

Police responded to the area of Horsepond Road and Kimberly Lane shortly before noon for a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist.

After the crash, police said the woman fled the scene.

The bicyclist was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with serious injuries.
