STATE COLLEGE — Villanova, an FCS team accepting a hefty paycheck to walk into its impending doom at Penn State , knew it would have to play perfectly to have any chance at competition Saturday.
That didn’t happen, as the Nittany Lions trounced the Wildcats 52-6 on Saturday. But ninth-year head coach Mark Ferrante’s group fought to the end, gave the Penn State offense some trouble and scored a wacky touchdown as time expired to miraculously cover a giant point spread.
