SOUTH BEND – On a night that saw Notre Dame make a slew of mistakes – missed tackles, poor angles, bungled coverages in the secondary, throws into coverage – it was fitting that a miscue on the most basic play of all cost the Irish a chance at victory against No. 16 Texas A&M.

A botched snap on an extra point was the difference as No. 8 Notre Dame dropped its second in a row to open the season, falling 41-40 when the Aggies scored on a Marcel Reed pass to Nate Boerkircher with 13 seconds to play.
