MANCHESTER, Conn. (WFSB) - “House of Heroes” helped to change the life of yet another local veteran on Saturday morning.
The non-profit organization aims to honor veterans and first responders, making free repairs at their house.
The hard work started at 8 a.m. on Saturday
A group of volunteers, many of them veterans themselves, show up and get to business.
This time, they’re here to help Corporal Ryan Dion, a Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq.
“It’s a humbling experience, I already had a couple tears,” expressed Corporal Dion.
He joined the military after graduating high school, his grandfather serving as his biggest inspiration.
“My grandfather was a World War II vet,” noted Corporal Dion. “He was a purple heart recipient. He stormed Normandy.”
Dion served two terms in Iraq
