BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The city of Baker has been focusing on building better habits in the community through a year-round initiative aimed at keeping Baker clean and beautiful. This morning, Keep Baker Beautiful held its annual city cleanup day, encouraging more people to get involved.
Keep Louisiana Beautiful says there are over a million pieces of trash sitting on roadways, costing taxpayers over $90 million a year to clean up.
Roads littered with trash are never a sight you want to see in your own city. But a sea of orange vests is determined to make a difference.
“Every two years, we do a litter survey around the city, and we try to pinpoint areas that need the most help. And so by doing that, we’re able to pinpoint those locations and clean them up on today,” Dr. Ebony Iheanach
