BOISE, Idaho — Lowell Scott Middle School athletes are prioritizing positivity on and off the field.

At the middle school’s home cross country meet in August, the football team rallied behind one of their former teammates.

Members of the football team ran a portion of the race with eighth grader Olever Aristyl.

“They were cheering for one of their own, just a peer, somebody that they respected and somebody that they valued,” Cross Country Coach Christi Wilcox said. “They were excited for it, and it came from another team entirely. Really just shows that the culture at Lowell Scott is that they just support each other.”

What the players did not know, Wilcox said, was that the August race would be the first time Aristyl would cross the finish line.
