Aer Lingus has offered its ground staff and cabin crew a 4pc pay rise in exchange for agreeing to work practice changes that are largely already in place at the airline.

The proposed new pay hike – which follows an earlier 12.25pc – would see the staff come closer to matching the 17.5pc pay deal the airline agreed to pay its pilots last year.

The new deal offered to staff was “in recognition of the operational efficiencies and the cooperation experienced during the lifetime of the current pay agreement,” the airline said in a written proposal to trade unions.
