BROOKINGS, S.D. (KELO) -- No. 2 South Dakota State secured a 37-21 victory over Drake in the Beef Bowl at Dana J. Dykhouse to move to 3-0 on the season Saturday night.
After the Bulldogs marched down field and scored on their opening drive of the game, the Jacks scored twice to take a 14-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. State tacked on another score in the second and held a 21-10 advantage at the half. SDSU added a TD in each of the third and fourth quarters to expand the lead.
SDSU held a 211-121 advantage on the ground. They outgained 436-295 for the game.
Chase Mason threw for 225 yards and one touchdown on 18-of-25. Julius Loughridge ran for 83 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. Lofton O'Groske hauled in six passes for 78 yards. The Jacks defense registered four sacks.
