WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- A popular West Hollywood restaurant is trying to bounce back after a burglar caused thousands of dollars in losses on Saturday morning.

The thief was caught on surveillance video at LALA'S Argentine Grill on Melrose Avenue.

The owner says the thief broke the front door and lock and smashed another glass door around 6 a.m.

He went straight to the cash drawer and took about $3,000. The entire thing lasted less than a minute.

"It looks like the person knew exactly what he was doing. He knew that there was a lot of cash in the restaurant, so I'm assuming, or guessing, that he was looking at the restaurant from the outside for quite some time, and that he saw the managers counting the money and where they put the money," said owner Horacio Weschler.
