Tempe pet rescue Lost Our Home has received over $10,000 from the Kentucky Fried Chicken Foundation to replace a broken air conditioner.

The Lost Our Home Pet Rescue is a nonprofit shelter that can temporarily shelter dogs and cats if their owners are experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, hospitalization and other situations that take them away from caring for their pets.

The organization will hold each pet free of charge for up to three months and cover food, shelter and medical expenses.

“Many animals we serve come from heartbreaking situations, and their first moments with us matter. This grant will help us restore a safe, comfortable space for the pets in our care and for the staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to provide compassionate services for them,” Jodi Polanski,
