First-time homebuyers now represent a historically-low percentage in the market nationally, and Oklahoma is no exception.
With issues at play including a higher first-time homebuyer age, housing affordability and being "cash poor," data from the National Association of Realtors shows only 24% of home purchases last year were made by first-time buyers.
The first-time buyer market share has trended downward since reaching 50% in 2010 after the market crash, and has averaged 27.3% in the last three years.
