Today marks the start of Pennsylvania’s expanded Sunday hunting, ahead of next weekend’s archery season opener for deer in regions that include the Lehigh Valley.

Public and nonprofit owners of Lehigh Valley parkland told lehighvalleylive.com they are not following state parks’ lead in limiting the number of Sundays open to hunting in 2025.

What all this means is non-hunting outdoors enthusiasts could encounter more hunters in the woods and fields along their favorite trails, and it’s a reminder to consider blaze orange for yourself and four-legged friends to stay safe.

State House Bill 1431, signed into law July 9 as Act 36 of 2025, lifted Pennsylvania’s longstanding prohibition on Sunday hunting. A 2019 law had permitted hunting on three Sundays a year.
