Victims of a Perth builder are being encouraged to speak with their insurers after it went bust.

Liquidators have been called in to wind up the Tingey Development Group, leaving dozens of homes unfinished.

Perth couple Simon and Sheri Davies have been waiting a long time to live in their dream home and now have newfound hope it may finally be built.

"There's been so many tears, so many tears," Sheri told 9News.

"You just want to be in your safe space, your home."

The pair bought a block in Bayswater three years ago. When their builder, Modco Residential, collapsed the following year, they trusted Tingey to get the job done.

"At the start it was great, when they were building quickly, but once it all slowed down ... very hard to get in contact," Simon said.
