The spotlight was on Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez as Crawford defeated Alvarez to become the undisputed super middleweight champion at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Crawford, of Omaha, Nebraska, improved to 42-0 on Saturday, Sept. 13, adding Alvarez to a résumé that includes victories over former welterweight champions Shawn Porter and Errol Spence.

Alvarez, one of Mexico’s most celebrated fighters, dropped to 63-3-2. His only previous losses came against Floyd Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol. He holds victories over legends such as Miguel Cotto and Shane Mosley.

Oddsmakers had favored Alvarez since the fight was announced. The bout marked the first major boxing event held at Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders .
