Mahjong, a tile-based strategy game with origins in China, is seeing growing popularity in Oklahoma. Two Edmond business owners are contributing to that growth by offering lessons and selling custom tile sets through their company, Edmond Mahj Moms.
Co-owners Kelli Miller and Allison Fannon began learning the game after being introduced by a friend. They started by teaching small groups, including book clubs and community gatherings, and later expanded their lessons to larger audiences across the state.
The pair sell an Oklahoma-themed Mahjong set that incorporates state symbols, including tornado imagery, as part of their product line. They also recently released travel-sized cards designed for easier use and lower cost.
