One sent to hospital after targeted shooting at downtown Calgary restaurant

Investigators closed the area around a downtown eatery after a shooting early Sunday sent one person to hospital.

The incident took place at Kabul Lounge on 5th Avenue at 8th Street S.W. around 5 a.m., the Calgary Police Service said in an advisory issued to media.

“This appears to be targeted and there is not believed to be any further threat to the public at this time,” police said in its written statement.

No suspect description was made available.

The shooting victim was reported to be in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, said Calgary police acting Staff Sgt. Mike Kelm in a separate interview.
