A shooting early Sunday at the Kabul Lounge in downtown Calgary left one person hospitalized. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. at the restaurant located on 5th Avenue at 8th Street S.W.
Calgary police reported that a male victim was taken from the scene to receive treatment for gunshot wounds. His injuries are considered non-life-threatening, and he is in stable condition, according to acting Staff Sgt. Mike Kelm.
Authorities believe the shooting was targeted and do not anticipate any further threat to the public. In a statement, police emphasized, "This appears to be targeted and there is not believed to be any further threat to the public at this time."
In response to the incident, investigators closed off the area surrounding the Kabul Lounge, which is situated at the base of a multi-storey residential building. The closure is expected to remain in effect while officers conduct their investigation.
