A tropical wave west of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean is expected to become a tropical depression or storm sometime next week, National Hurricane Center forecasters said Sunday morning.
The system was producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms and moving west-northwest at about 10 to 15 mph as of 7 a.m.
Forecasters expect the wave's development to be slowed by dry, stable air over the next few days, but said it will likely reach more favorable environmental conditions by the middle or end of next week.
As of Sunday morning, the system had a 10% chance of forming in the next two days and a 70% chance within the next week.
