BEAUMONT, Texas — A 47-year-old man was charged with intoxication manslaughter early Sunday morning following a fatal two-vehicle crash on Washington Boulevard, according to Beaumont police.

Officers responded at 1:07 a.m. Sunday to the 3000 block of Washington Boulevard after reports of a major traffic accident involving two vehicles.

Police discovered the victim was traveling west on Washington when struck by a suspect traveling east on the same street.

Emergency medical services responded to the scene, where the victim was pronounced dead.

The suspect was identified as Lajanara Stevenson, 47, who appeared intoxicated and was placed under arrest.

Stevenson sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital before being transported to Jefferson County Jail.
