DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) -- A Durham man died after he was hit by a vehicle while he stood near a bus stop along Chalk Level Road on Saturday night, police said.
The incident was reported just before 10:45 p.m. in the 900 block of Chalk Level Road, according to a Durham Police Department news release.
Before the crash, the vehicle involved was heading west, ran off the road to the left, and then hit two signs, police said.
Richard Ferguson Jr., 61, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, the news release said.
"The suspect vehicle was described as possibly an orange Jeep with a hard top," police said.
The vehicle will also likely have damage on the front, hood and possibly the windshield.
