MARINA DEL REY – A man drowned in the Marina del Rey Harbor early Sunday morning.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to reports of a man drowning in the 5500 block of S. Ocean Front Walk at 8:38 a.m., according to department spokesperson Margaret Stewart.

Paramedics and County lifeguards located the 50-year-old victim thirty yards from where he entered the water channel, and after attempting life-saving measures that were unsuccessful, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His identity is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
