Mac Jones was thrust into the 49ers ’ starting quarterback role after Brock Purdy was sidelined with turf toe. And the ex- New England Patriots QB made the most of it.

Jones went 26-of-39 for 279 yards and three touchdowns in San Francisco’s 26-21 win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

This is Jones’ first season in San Francisco after he signed a two-year deal with the team in March after spending a not-so-great 2024 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Before that, Jones spent his first three years with the Patriots .

But things didn’t go well in New England . After a promising rookie season in 2021, Jones couldn’t build off that year, regressed and struggled to find a groove under center.
