The Patriots scored the first two touchdowns of the game on Sunday afternoon in Miami, but only ran out to a 12-0 lead as Andres Borregales missed back-to-back extra points.
The rookie’s first kick rang off the right upright and the second went wide right entirely.
“Gotta have a lot of confidence in him and I do have a lot of confidence in him,” Mike Vrabel said after a 33-27 win over the Dolphins. “I didn’t waver.”
The Patriots coach put that on display late in the game, as with a 30-27 lead, Vrabel trotted Borregales out for a 53-yard attempt after a Morgan Moses false start pushed a fourth-and-2 back to fourth-and-7. Borregales drilled the kick to give New England a six-point lead.
“I’m happy for Andy,” Vrabel said. “That’s why he’s here. I thought after the first two he really se
