Olivia Moultrie ’s record-setting goal gave the Portland Thorns an early boost on Sunday, but they couldn’t hold the lead and settled for a 1-1 road draw with the Chicago Stars.
Thorns goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold made sure Portland (8-6-6, 30 points) left Chicago with a point, making two saves in the final minutes to preserve the tie. The Thorns have lost only five times in 34 meetings all-time with the Stars, with 17 wins and 12 draws.
Moultrie’s 14th career goal in the 12th minute gave her the record for the most scored by a teenager in NWSL history, passing Jaedyn Shaw, who set the mark with San Diego in 2024. It came just in time, too, as Moultrie turns 20 on Wednesday.
